Cosplay Feature: Witch (Left 4 Dead)
The original Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 were both a blast. Don’t try and play it alone with AI allies or you’ll blow your brains out. If you can get some of your closest friends to hop in a game with you, it will be some of the most fun you’ve ever had. There’s no current announced plans for a Left 4 Dead 3, but fans are still very hopeful that Valve will eventually release it.
Yulia Kasu is a 20 year old cosplayer from Russia. She loves video games, especially the Elder Scrolls series and other RPGs. Yulia has a number of very high quality cosplays, and typically goes by the name Kasuzame Yuu. She also loves frogs.

It’s called the Dragon Curve - it’s a fractal, and it’s awesome. Fractal’s are recurring patterns that happen in math, science, nature, etc. They repeat upon themselves and make this beautiful design that you can’t even fathom until you step back and look at it. And I think that’s how I look at life. It’s a series of events, ranging from fantastic to fantastically shitty, but no matter what it looks beautiful every time we take a step back and really think about it.

This is my third tattoo. It’s a Japanese good luck cat. I got this because I LOVE Japanese culture. I plan on getting more added to make it a sleeve at a later date. I also added in the crescent moon to represent my kitten, Luna. It’s probably my favorite tattoo so far. It was done by my good friend Eddie Stewart at Elite Tattoo in Williamston, NC. Here it is!
This is my first tattoo, I got it in December when I went back to my home city, San Francisco.
It’s taken from the chorus of Skinny Love by Bon Iver, “I told you to be patient, I told you to be fine, I told you to be balanced, I told you to be kind.” It’s difficult to accurately explain, because there are so many different reasons why I got it, and because it’s difficult to explain with language how much Bon Iver, Justin Vernon, the album For Emma, Forever Ago, and this song mean to me. For Emma, Forever Ago is my favorite album of all time, I could listen to it over and over forever and not get sick of it, and every time I listen to it I feel a little different. I’ve loved the song Skinny Love since before it became Bon Iver’s most popular song, and I’ve always loved it, always will love it. But most importantly, when I was 17, my life fell apart with the collapse of my family and resulted in the near death of my sister. I was really the only member of my family left standing, I was the glue, and there were two things that made the burden on me at all bearable; my best friend, and For Emma, Forever Ago. I would listen to Skinny Love over and over, sometimes sobbing, sometimes numb, sometimes ecstatic, sometimes furious, and every time it would bring me back to earth and give me hope that someday everything would be okay. At times, I wanted to sulk in my own sorrow, feeling sorry for myself that I had to deal with such misfortune, but Skinny Love would always remind me to pick myself back up, to appreciate what I still had, to appreciate that I was still strong, and that I should remember to be patient, fine, balanced, and kind.
When I met Justin Vernon, we had a heart to heart about how his music made me vibrant, and vivid, and happy and sad and vivacious and truly alive, and how infinitely grateful I was to him, as a musician and a person. He gave me a hug (two in fact) and told me to stay strong. And I am.
